Biological & Wildlife Sciences

Members of the co-operative include field biologists with over 30 years of experience in conducting biological inventories for environmental impact assessments. They have extensive knowledge in data collections and species identification by sight and sound.

Our services include:

  • Ornithological inventories (aerial searches, breeding bird point counts, transects and migratory watches)
  • Amphibian inventories
  • Botanical inventories and habitat assessments
  • Species at Risk assessments (all taxa)
  • Wetland delineation
  • Mitigation mesures to reduce disturbance to birds during the construction of culverts, roads, bridges trails and tourism developments.

Climate Change and Adaptation

Our members offer expertise in all areas of climate change planning and education, including:

  • Adaptation planning – from assessment to implementation
  • Facilitating and developing tools for communities and municipalities
  • Developing and delivering educational programs
  • Project planning, management and engagement

Conservation Management & Planning

Aster Group members have experience in developing conservation plans for both habitats and species in ecologically sensitive areas.

Our services include:

  • Developing site conservation plans (rare species sites, landscape plans, protected areas)
  • Developing species conservation plans
  • Developing natural trails that respect ecological integrity

Outreach, Education & Communications

Our group includes nature educators with over 30 years of experience in developing and delivering programs, and working with teachers and non-profit groups.

Our services include:

  • Developing curriculum-linked programs and materials
  • Developing public education campaigns and materials, such as posters, brochures and web content
  • Developing guided walks or interactive presentations for nature interpretation
  • Creating and delivering environmental education training workshops for youth leaders and teachers
  • The Great Minds Think Outside program 
  • Creating master interpretation programming for natural & cultural sites (e.g., Mount Carleton Interpretation Plan)

Sustainability Planning

We specialize in developing sustainability plans, for and with communities and municipalities. Planning collaboratively as a region and on a local level plays an important role in a community’s economic, social, and environmental well-being.
